In the very first scene of the cult hit Cube, a man named Alderson has the misfortune of stepping into a razor wire trap and getting “cubed.” Poor Alderson, we hardly knew you.

4. Underworld

File under “dead but didn’t know it yet.” Viktor is still itching for a fight when the top half of his head slides off.

3. Thirteen Ghosts

This is the imaginative death scene that Thirteen Ghosts is known for. Our sleazy lawyer friend gets a nasty little cut from some sliding glass doors. It’ll make you think twice the next time you step through automatic doors.

2. Resident Evil

Here’s another guy getting cubed. This scene gets bumped up because you have to feel bad for the poor squad leader. He already survived 3 rounds of this damn laser and they shut it off a second too late. He got a raw deal.

1. Equilibrium

Equilibrium takes the top spot for being so unexpected and ridiculous. You’d expect Preston and Brandt to fly into a crazy Grammaton Cleric fight. Instead, Brandt is dispatched in all of 3 seconds resulting in an awesome, delayed severed face slide.
