10 Totally Rad 80s Commercials

In The 50 Greatest Commercials of the ’80s, Giant left out some great commercials that we here hold near and dear to our hearts. So we present to you another 10 totally rad 80s commercials.

1. Encyclopedia Britannica
Who could forget the annoying kid who had a report due on space? Back before the internets were overloading us with information through all those tubes, you actually had to look stuff up in books! Now if only somebody would upload his Codename: Mozart, Checkpoint Charlie commercial.

2. Federal Express
Motor mouth John Moschitta not only starred in this classic FedEx commercial, but was also the Micro Machines spokesman and Blurr in Transformers: The Movie.

3. Zelda
Octoroks! Tektites! Peahats! Leevers! Before anybody knew what Zelda was, this insane commercial made everyone want it.

4. Honeycomb Cereal
There are some jingles you can never get out of your head. This is one of them. Yeah yeah yeah! (Unfortunately, we couldn’t find the Smurfberry Crunch commercial.)

5. Bud Light - Spuds Mackenzie
Spuds Mackenzie, “the original party animal”, is the perfect illustration of how coked up people were in the 80s. Plus Robin Leach is the voice-over.

6. Lazer Tag
No kid could resist the thought of becoming a badass, futuristic warrior as shown in this commercial.

7. Reese’s Pieces
The space alien theme continues for E.T.’s favorite candy.

8. Burger King - I’m Not Herb
In response to the success of “Where’s the beef?”, Burger King came up with the not-so-brilliant idea for Herb. This campaign turned out to be a total flop, but I still have my “I’m Not Herb” button.

9. 1-900-909-JEFF
In the 80s, everybody had a 900 number. DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince (Will Smith didn’t even get top billing back in the day) happened to have one of the most popular numbers.

10. Pepsi - Michael J. Fox
Face it, Michael J. Fox owned the 80s.
