The Departed Wins Best Picture

Wow, a Hong Kong movie remake won Best Picture. Martin Scorsese won Best Director, a total lock this year. The Departed also picked up Oscars for Adapted Screenplay and Editing.

There was one rather obvious goof during the show when it was time for Best Adapted Screenplay. The announcer stated, “William Monahan based his screenplay about Boston mobsters on the Japanese film Infernal Affairs.” C’mon Academy, do some research.

Monahan did acknowledge Alan Mak and Felix Chong in his acceptance speech. So the question now is, what will be the next Asian remake to garner this level of award and recognition?
